The 12th season finale of America’s Got Talent was its most-watched episode in six years. The winner was 12-year-old ventriloquist Darci Lynne.
The season finale saw 15.6 million viewers, which was a rise of seven percent from the final episode of season 11. The episode was up 38 percent in viewership from the previous episode on September 13.

Darci is not the first ventriloquist to win the $1 million dollar prize, but she is the first child ventriloquist to do so. She beat out 10-year-old singer Angelica Hale to land in the top spot. Season 12 also marked the debut of host Tyra Banks.
