Pop superstar Ed Sheeran will have to take a break from selling out stadiums early in the New Year to undergo surgery. The musician is being forced to take time out of his incredibly hectic schedule so that surgeons can repair a broken ear drum. In perhaps the most obvious case of rich people problems in recorded history, Sheeran claims that he injured his ear while living the lavish lifestyle.

“I have to have an operation in January on my ear because I stupidly jumped off a yacht really high up and smashed it,” he told Australia’s Nova radio. “I landed wrong and it burst my eardrum so I have to go and get a graft, which means I’m not allowed to fly for a while, so it’s kind of good, it means I have to stay at home.”

While “I hurt myself jumping off a yacht in Spain” may not make you super sympathetic toward’s Sheeran’s injury, it does count for quite a bit that the singer has continued to perform for the last several weeks, in spite of injury. A burst eardrum is no easy malady to overcome, even more so when you’re entire livelihood revolves around incredibly loud music blaring into your ears.

Sheeran and his team seem very confident that the surgery won’t be a big deal and he’ll be back on the road before too long. Honestly, at this point, Sheeran seems less worried about his injury than he is excited to be able to spend a few weeks at home.
