Gossip Girl star, Ed Westwick has been replaced in the upcoming Agatha Christie drama due to the sexual assault claims that have been brought against him. Actor Christian Cooke has been named as the replacement for the BBC One project, Ordeal By Innocence. Some of the scenes will reportedly be reshot without Westwick this month.

Other stars of the show include Bill Nighy, Anna Chancellor, Matthew Goode, Eleanor Tomlinson, Anthony Boyle, Luke Treadaway, Morven Christie, Crystal Clarke, Ella Purnell, and Alice Eve. Some of the promotional material was already released with images of Westwick prior to his removal from the project.

Westwick has not yet spoken out about being replaced, but he did previously claim on multiple occasions that he was innocent. The claims against him started in November, when actress Kristina Cohen wrote a statement on Facebook claiming that Westwick had raped her. Another actress named Aurélie Wynn and a creative producer named Rachel Eck also came forward with similar stories of sexual assault after Cohen did. The LAPD has since opened an investigation into Cohen’s claims specifically.

Westwick has continuously and adamantly denied all of the claims against him. Westwick even denied ever meeting the woman who had detailed the alleged rape.

“It is disheartening and sad to me that as a result of two unverified and provably untrue social media claims, there are some in this environment who could ever conclude I have had anything to do with such vile and horrific conduct. I have absolutely not, and I am cooperating with the authorities so that they can clear my name as soon as possible.”

In addition to his leave from Ordeal By Innocence, Westwick has also been let go from his other BBC project White Gold.
