Nick Gordon has been ordered to pay over $36 million to the family of Bobbi Kristina Brown after being found legally responsible and charged in her wrongful death lawsuit.

In July of 2015 Bobbi Kristina was found unconscious in a bathtub and later died in a coma. Her boyfriend Nick Gordon was there at the time and was not charged with a crime, but Bobbi’s estate later filed a wrongful death lawsuit against him. The lawsuit alleged that Bobbi “died due to a violent altercation [with Nick] after which he placed her in a bathtub, unconscious, after he injected her with a toxic mixture.”

Nick’s refusal to turn up in court two different times led to the judge awarding the suit to Bobbi’s family.

Bobbi’s father Bobby Brown released a statement about the case.

“I am pleased with the outcome of today’s court proceedings. I do know that Mr. Gordon will be unable to slander my daughter’s name in the future or obtain any benefits from the use of Krissy’s name. Finally, I do need for the District Attorney’s Office to step up and begin the criminal prosecution of Mr. Gordon. The delay in that matter is of great concern to me and my family. We need for District Attorney Howard to act now.”
