Ryan Lochte is reportedly engaged to his girlfriend Kayla Rae Reid. The swimmer and Dancing With the Stars contestant popped the question on Sunday evening after taking his model girlfriend on a helicopter tour of Los Angeles.
The two landed in Malibu at the end of their flight, and as they were standing on a mountaintop by the ocean Ryan asked her to be his wife.
Kayla posted a photo to Instagram with the caption “Speechless. Absolutely beautiful. So in love with YOU.”
Ryan and Kayla have been together for less than a year, but he explained that her standing by his side throughout the backlash after the Rio Olympics was all that he needed to know that she was the one.
“My family says, ‘Don’t you think it’s a little too soon?’ I’m like, ‘Can you put a time on love? Can you?’ When I realized this was ‘the one’ was when she stuck behind me through this. She still loves me and she’s still right there with me.”
The two have yet to set a wedding dating date but Ryan added that he is looking forward to making “memories forever.”
