Fans of the Broken Lizard comedy Super Troopers have waited 17 years for the return of their favorite, hell-raising state troopers. Don’t worry though. In the nearly two decades since we last saw the alcohol swilling, weed smoking, prank-pulling law enforcement officers, it doesn’t seem like they have matured a single iota.

The entire cast returns to help Vermont governor, Lynda Carter, reclaim a small French Canadian town appears to be on the southern side of the border on American land. Thorny (Jay Chandrasekhar, who also directs), Farva (Kevin Heffernan), Mac (Steve Lemme), Foster (Paul Soter), and Rabbit Erik Stolhanske, along with Officer Ursula Hanson (Marisa Coughlan) their fearless leader Captain O’Hagen (Brian Cox) head north to show those Canucks just how it’s done in the good ol’ U.S.A. Of course, hijinks ensue, and the trailer is packed with irate mounties, poorly spoken French, and a dead bald eagle.

Joining the cast is Rob Lowe, who plays the good-spirited mayor of St. Georges du Laurent. Also appearing is Fred Savage, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Tyler Labine, Hayes MacArthur, and Will Sasso. Jim Gaffigan reprises his role as the confused Larry Johnson, as well.

Super Troopers 2 almost didn’t get made. The movie only received the capital it needed for production by raising $4.4 million with an Indiegogo campaign, doubling its goal of only $2 million.

In spite of the movie’s humble beginnings, expectations are high for Super Troopers 2, and no, that has nothing to do with the fact that the movie premieres in theaters on Friday, April 20. After 17 years to develop the plot and write the screenplay, fans expect nothing less than gut-busting hilarity from the goofy quintet, who has also starred in Beerfest and Club Dread.
