Earlier this week rapper T.I. discussed his business relationship with Aussie rapper, Iggy Izaela, and it didn’t sound too promising. During a radio talk show, the Atlanta native said that their collaborative efforts, “took a bit of a rest stop.”

But, T.I. who’s now going by TIP, clarified saying, “That’s still my partner. Her life has taken her in a different direction. My life is still as it was before. But Iggy is doing what she feels makes Iggy happy. That’s what she should do. We’re focused on making the next Iggy record and dodging the same adversities we faced last time.”

The rapper might be referring to the ongoing criticisms that Azalea is ripping off black culture from artists like Azealia Banks and Q-Tip.

On Iggy’s recent engagement to basketball player Nick Young, TIP said, “It’s definitely not a ‘sever my ties, walk away, I’m upset’ thing. It was more so like, ‘Okay, you have a lot on your plate right now. I’m going to pull back or wait until you come to a place where you’re ready to come back to the table, so we can start again and make history some more.'”

Azaela, who cancelled her tour earlier this year, said that she, “had a different creative change of heart” and would also be taking a break to figure out the progression she wanted for her sound and visual. The Aussie rapper hasn’t had a hit record since her single “Black Widow”, featuring Rita Ora, peaked at number three on the Billboard charts in June 2014.

But, TIP confirmed that he’s still in constant contact his protege, “We speak to each other without having to speak to each other. It’s funny sometimes, but we’re straight.” We’re looking forward to their 2016 album.
