The life of a celebrity is pretty image conscious. Sometimes actors have to bulk up or lose weight for certain roles, and sometimes they try to lose weight in a hurry just to look good at their next big red carpet event. Sometimes the ways they control their weight is done in pretty extreme ways, as you can tell by the following extreme diet choices made by these celebs.

1. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston is one of the celebs that goes to celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson for workout and body tips of all kinds. Tracy supposed was the creator of a diet plan called The Baby Food Diet, on which Jennifer lost seven pounds in a week. The diet is basically 14 portions of baby food throughout the day, followed by a normal healthy dinner.

2. Beyonce

When Beyonce was prepping for her role in Dreamgirls she wanted to lose 20 pounds fast. She accomplished that by sticking to the Master Cleanse plan, which basically involves drinking a lot of cayenne and syrup infused lemon water. The singer also sticks to a part time vegan diet, where meat is still allowed some of the time to keep her curves on point.

3. Snookie

Jersey Shore’s reality star Snooki went with the Cookie Diet to drop the weight she had gained from drinking too much booze. On the Cookie Diet she ate six cookies a day and then something healthy for dinner like chicken or fish. The diet basically works by restricting calories, but isn’t a long term solution because it doesn’t teach any healthy eating habits outside of its strict plan.

4. Megan Fox

Megan Fox claims that she keeps her hot body by taking shots of apple cider vinegar…and skipping the exercise which she says she is too “lazy” to do. For a while Megan also stuck to a strict vegan diet to remain thin, but ditched it when she felt like she wasn’t getting enough vitamins.

6. Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has claims that drinking lots of whiskey fits into her health and fitness plan just fine. The singer has been quoted saying, “I am on the drunk diet. I live my life as I want to, creatively. I like to drink whiskey and stuff while I am working. But the deal is I’ve got to work out every day, and I work out hung over if I am hung over.”

7. Anne Hathaway

To play her role of a starving prostitute in Les Miserables Anne Hathaway wanted to lose 25 pounds. To do it she got a doctor on board, and essentially just starved herself. She hasn’t revealed the exact diet plan she followed because she didn’t want anyone trying to replicate it, but some say it was two squares of oatmeal paste each day, others say it was simply lettuce. Either way, it wasn’t much.

8. Oprah

Oprah once lost 67 pounds in less than five months and naturally shared her secret on air of her own TV show. Her diet trick, however, was to run six and half miles each day while subsisting on a liquid diet. If that doesn’t sound sustainable that’s because it’s not…just two weeks later she had gained ten of it back.

9. Elizabeth Hurley

Back in 2002, Liz Hurley felt the need to drop her baby weight really quickly after giving birth, so she stuck to a diet of just oatcakes while hiding out in Elton John’s house. She also swears by eating a lot of watercress soup and the controversial choice of skipping breakfast.

10. January Jones

Mad Men‘s January Jones also had a crazy diet plan for getting back to her pre-baby weight. The actress swore by taking placenta pills alongside her tea and vitamins to get her body back in shape. Not surprisingly, that hasn’t become a diet fad to sweep the nation.
