Today, New Line announced three additional stars are joining the cast of The Kitchen, a movie adaptation of a DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint crime comic book series. Margo Martindale, Bill Camp, and Brian d’Arcy James join Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moss for the female-fronted crime drama.

The eight editions of The Kitchen comic series, created by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle, were published in 2015. Set in Hell’s Kitchen, New York during the 1970s, The Kitchen tells the story of the wives of Irish mobsters who end up taking over their husbands’ business following an FBI sweep that put several men behind bars, eventually becoming the most powerful organized crime syndicate in the area during its time. Martindale portrays a woman running the Irish mob, Camp plays an Italian mob boss in Brooklyn, and James acts as McCarthy’s husband.

Currently, Martindale appears in the Amazon series Sneaky Pete and The Americans on FX. Camp performs in Red Sparrow, a spy thriller starring Jennifer Lawrence, in theaters now, as well as in the Hulu series The Looming Tower. Camp’s recent work includes a starring role in the Netflix show 13 Reasons Why and an appearance in the upcoming Neil Armstrong, First Man, directed by Damien Chazelle.

Andrea Berloff, co-writer of Straight Outta Compton, is making her directorial debut with the project, as well as writing the script. Academy Award-nominated Michael De Luca will produce the film, which will begin shooting in May. The Kitchen is scheduled to hit theaters on September 20, 2019.
